What do you associate Sweden with? Battle of Poltava, ABBA group, Swedish family or Swedish wall? It is also the birthplace of Anna Johansson, a doctor who made a real revolution in nutrition, inventing a diet like the "6 Petals Diet".
The essence of the diet
You can calm down right away, you don't have to eat exclusively six petals a day, the diet is more varied and, in principle, does not involve the consumption of flowers. Although Dr. Johansson promises that in one week on her diet you can lose 5 kg, which seems like an incredible result.
A petal is a day of the diet, when you can only eat a certain amount of a type of food. The sequence of days is important, so you can even draw a flower with six petals, write on each menu and a serial number and strictly follow the recommendations.
This, by the way, is the convenience of this diet. There is no need to guess what to eat. You clearly know your diet for the days to come.
This is, to some extent, a mono diet, but the body doesn't have time to get used to one type of food and switch to an energy-saving mode. Additionally, studies have shown that mono diets that last less than a day are the most effective for burning fat.
The results of this diet are obtained through the alternation of protein-carbohydrates and a reduction in the number of calories consumed. You eat one type of food every day and don't mix proteins and carbohydrates, which allows you to break down fat more efficiently.
How can you cook food
Foods can be boiled, stewed, baked or steamed, but frying or adding oil is strictly prohibited. Furthermore, the author suggests limiting coffee consumption to 1-2 cups per day. Obviously no sugar. According to her, it is better to drink tea or mineral water without gas in an amount of at least 1. 5 liters per day. But in no case should you drink liquid foods, just 30 minutes before a meal or an hour after.
And so that the feeling of hunger does not defeat you, divide all food into 4-5 receptions. And you don't need to stick to fixed intervals. Did you want to eat? Went and ate some. Well, or drank green tea.
You can stick to the diet for two weeks in a row. But don't forget to take a break of at least two weeks before the next attempt.
With all this, the diet is contraindicated:
- Pregnant;
- nursing mothers;
- With diseases of the liver, kidneys, pancreas, heart, endocrine system (especially diabetes);
- With anemia;
- With infections or soon after an illness;
- Exacerbation of any chronic disease.
Still, while this isn't a direct contraindication, it will be difficult for you to follow such a diet if you work out. Therefore, it is better to save it for the holidays.
Flower diet: one petal every day
And now let's take a closer look at what this Swedish lady came up with.
first petal
On the first day it is proposed to eat only fish, but not more than 500 grams. Of course, this should not be consumed all at once, but divided over the whole day. From these 500 grams you can make a couple of cutlets, cook fish in the oven or on the grill, cook stews and even fish soup, which will consist of water, spices and fish.
An example of a menu might look like this:
- Breakfast: boiled perch fillet (cod, hake or zander);
- Lunch: lean fish (eg carp) baked with dill and parsley or silver carp fillet chops;
- Snack: fish balls, fish in a double boiler or fish soup (without vegetables, only spices and herbs);
- Dinner: boiled zander or grilled fish.
Second petal
You can give yourself 1500 grams of vegetables and aromatic herbs. It is better if it is a question of vegetables with a low glycemic index: zucchini, cauliflower, cucumbers, tomatoes, squash. It is impossible only canned, because sugar is added there.
Of course, you don't have to limit yourself to salads and raw vegetables. You can make a stew, a casserole or just drink a glass of vegetable juice, obviously not bought in the store.
- Breakfast: grated carrots with cinnamon or vanilla;
- Lunch: vegetable stew or mashed potatoes, vinaigrette;
- Snack: boiled potatoes, cabbage or steamed vegetables;
- Dinner: salad, grilled vegetables.
third petal
On the third day, you receive 500 grams of chicken meat as a reward. Why an award? Yes, because with this amount you can cook a lot of tasty and nutritious things. By the way, spices and herbs can be unlimitedly included in the diet on any day of the diet.
Suitable options for dishes would be boiled chicken or baked chicken broth.
- Breakfast: boiled chicken fillet;
- Lunch: chicken breast in foil;
- Snack: chicken broth or grilled chicken;
- Dinner: boiled chicken fillet.
fourth petal
Cereal day. Absolutely any cereal, but no more than 200 grams (before cooking). You can choose a type and keep it, or make yourself several cereals throughout the day. It is better to choose wild rice, millet, buckwheat, oatmeal.
- Breakfast: oatmeal on the water;
- Lunch: buckwheat porridge on water with spices;
- Snack: rice porridge in water with sesame seeds;
- Dinner: Herbal buckwheat porridge.
fifth petal

- Breakfast: fat-free ricotta with yogurt;
- Lunch: fat-free cottage cheese with milk;
- Snack: fat-free ricotta without additives;
- Dinner: Fat-free cottage cheese with yogurt.
sixth petal
At your disposal 1500 grams of any fruit. You can eat them raw, make salads or drink juices. This is up to you to decide.
You can drink tea and mineral water every day, but excluding coffee or minimizing consumption. Yes, you have to give up sugar.
- Breakfast: two red apples with a cup of green tea;
- Lunch: a banana and three kiwis;
- Snack: a bunch of grapes and an orange;
- Dinner: two green apples.
seventh petal
No, this is not an optical illusion. And, yes, you read the name of the diet correctly. There are really six petals and you have to alternate six types of diet, but there is such an important thing as getting out of the diet. The day you realize you can do anything.
The main thing on this day is not to relax so much that you recover half of what you have lost. Someone recommends a gradual exit and recommends for now to eat only those foods that you ate on a diet, only slightly increasing the portions.
Proponents of radical methods say the easy way is not for us and suggest spending the seventh day solely on the water. Which of these two options you like best - choose for yourself.
Of course, you can just wave your hand and dive back into the world of delicious cakes.
Because the diet is good
Will this diet help you if you decide to lose weight? Definitely yes, the Swedes have done their best. If you try, you will lose weight by 0. 6 - 0. 9 kg per day.
Will you be able to survive without breakdowns? Even a positive answer. The diet is quite simple and allows you to eat enough not to look nostalgically at a piece of bread.
However, despite all its effectiveness, "6 petals" still does not solve the problem of your future diet. Six days of diet will pass and you will go back to your usual diet and it will already give you back the lost kilograms. So even if you're following this diet, it's best to see it as an opportunity to take a step towards a healthier future.
